Introduction IAPR-TC13 on Pattern Recognition in Astronomy and Astrophysics is one of the official Technical Committees of the International Association for Pattern Recognition. IAPR-TC13 aims to promote interaction and collaboration among researchers working in computer science as well as in astronomy and astrophysics; and this in relation with the increasing integration in an astronomical setting of various methodologies in pattern recognition, information retrieval and data analysis, characteristic of modern computational astronomy. Topics of interest for IAPR-TC13 mainly concern sophisticated image analysis and pattern recognition methods, information retrieval technology, data fusion problems, large image databases and archives, new paradigms in data handling and interpretation, advanced computer architectures. Generally speaking, the objectives of the IAPR-TC13 are:
To Know More About TC13Information related to IAPR-TC13 activities is mainly distributed via this web area. It contains general information, such as announcements of events, and an updated electronic mailing list of IAPR members interested in TC13 activities (i.e., interested in image analysis and pattern recognition applied to astronomical data). To learn more about the work of TC13, have a look at proceedings from past meetings. Some of these proceedings are available on the web. See under History for details of the "CCMA - Converging Computing Methodologies in Astronomy" network which lasted from 1995 to 1997; and the "COST Action 283 - iAstro: Computational and Information Infrastructure in the Astronomical DataGrid" network which is now active (2001-2004). A low-volume email distribution list is available. Send a subscribe message with your email address in the body of the message, "subscribe name@node.domain", to iastro-request@qub.ac.uk. Working GroupsIAPR-TC13 members have involvment, on a personal basis, in several working groups and associations, as for example:
